Chris Mould is a local freelance illustrator whose work can be seen in children’s books, magazines, newspapers and many other forms of printed matter as well as television and feature film development work. Recent illustrated successes include Matt Haig's 'A Boy Called Christmas' trilogy, which has been published in 30 countries and is currently being developed into a feature film.

In his own words...

When I was a small person I found the 'fictional world' much more interesting than the 'real world'. So, in need of escape, I went through the wardrobe into Narnia, under the floorboards with the Borrowers and set off walking with Bilbo Baggins.

Eventually my obsession with drawing led me to art school and naturally into children's books.

Most of the work in this exhibition is commissioned and published by major UK book publishers. There is a mixture of sketchbook work, rough drawings and camera-ready artwork. I have always relied on a story to place my work in its rightful home. I began to write as part of the creative process but continue to work with other authors as well as 'doing my own thing'.
