We’re looking for an exceptional team of volunteers to welcome visitors and assist with our public programmes in the following roles:
Gallery Assistant Volunteer
The Piece Hall Gallery is a stunning setting for exhibitions from established local and national artists. As a Gallery Assistant Volunteer you will welcome visitors into the gallery, provide information and assistance as needed, and help ensure visitors have a positive and enjoyable experience.
Heritage Guide Volunteer
Amongst the colonnaded galleries of this unique stone building there lies over two centuries of history. As a Heritage Guide Volunteer you will enhance the visitor experience by providing sightseers with an informative and engaging hour long tour, guiding both public tours and private groups to uncover its remarkable past.
Learning Programme Volunteer
The Piece Hall’s Heritage & Learning team deliver workshops and activities for schools, families and adults. As a Learning Programme Volunteer you will encourage people to take part, support group leaders and provide a welcome and engaging atmosphere.
Oral History Volunteer
Thousands of people have a connection with and stories and memories of The Piece Hall. As an Oral History Volunteer you will gather these stories and create a precious audio visual archive – an authentic treasure trove detailing our past. These recordings will be used in The People’s Piece Hall – an on-site exhibition space dedicated to our social history.
Visitor Welcome Volunteer
As a leading destination for the North of England, The Piece Hall welcomes visitors from far and wide. As a Visitor Welcome Volunteer you will provide information and assistance as needed to ensure visitors have a positive and enjoyable experience.
We're delighted to say we have been overwhelmed with submissions for volunteers and we’re currently contacting those who will form our first group on reopening. The second round of volunteer training will begin in spring 2018.
