Showcasing images that relate to events and spectacles at The Piece Hall from Victorian times right through to the current day.

The Piece Hall only successfully traded cloth for around 40 years before the industrial revolution began to impact on this way of trading. From around 1820 onwards, the building started being used for other purposes and became a place of culture and community, as well as a place for trade.

Events such as military drills and election rallies took place, along with more extravagant spectacles such as balloon rides and tightrope walkers! It also became a regular venue for Sunday School 'Big Sing' events. We've been lucky to be able to recreate some of these events following the reopening of The Piece Hall in 2017, enabling us to celebrate our rich and historic past.

Come along to see this wonderful exhibition of photographs, paintings and images and discover the different ways this amazing building has been used over the last 200 years.
