Halifax Stories 12 September 2019 to 5 January 2020

12 Sept - 5 Jan

Halifax is home to a large South Asian community, mainly British Pakistani's originally from the Kashmir region, who migrated in the 50's and 60's when thousands of workers were recruited to work in the mills across Yorkshire. Join us for this special exhibition to celebrate Halifax's textile heritage through their stories. We have recorded the memories of people who did this journey to work in the factories and mills of Calderdale, in this, our latest Oral History Project.

Do you remember Kagan Mill in Elland? Or Fairlea Mill in Luddendenfoot? Come and learn about the region's rich, industrial past and how it brought people from all over the world to settle here and make Halifax the diverse town it is today.
