POSTPONED: 3D Drawing with Sarah O'Boyle 10 April 2020

In this exciting family-friendly art workshop we will be taking inspiration from Alice Irwin's playful People Play sculpture exhibition. Together families will be introduced to 3D drawing techniques and produce a collection of playful mixed media characters by exploring a range of colourful construction activities that focus on connecting, threading, wrapping, binding and twisting. Resources such as foil, masking tape, wire, pipe cleaners, fabric, beads, clay, card and paper fasteners will be used.

Towards the end of the session we will shine lights onto the 3D figures and explore scale through the casting of dramatic shadows which will then be transferred onto paper by drawing around the shadow silhouettes using bright coloured pens, pencils and chalks. This collaborative illustration will be filled with layers of colourful characters in various playful poses. There will also be the opportunity to produce your own doodle drawings of the work created during the session.
