THE BIG SING

On Friday 25 May 2018, The Piece Hall Trust, in partnership with Calderdale Music Trust, presented 600 local primary school children in The Big Sing. This magical performance was a recreation of the historic Whitsuntide Sings that took place in The Piece Hall between 1831 and 1890. The children sang a selection of songs that had been specially written by them and music director Sam Dunkley from Performing Arts etc. This inaugural event marked the extraordinary heritage of The Piece Hall, bringing it to life for the young participants and audience.

Participating schools included: Barkisland CE Primary School, Bolton Brow Primary Academy, Bowling Green Primary School, Calder Primary School, Copley Primary School, Holy Trinity Primary School, Old Town Primary School, Salterhebble Junior & Infant School, Scout Road Primary, Beech Hill School, Burnley Road Academy, Lee Mount Primary School, Ling Bob Junior Infant & Nursery School, Luddendenfoot Academy, Moorside Community Primary School, New Road Primary School, Savile Park Primary School, St Chad's CE Primary School, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School Halifax, West Vale Primary School, Wood Bank Special Schoollton Brow Academy, Barkisland Primary, Scout Road Academy, Old Town Primary, Calder Primary, Holy Trinity Primary, Bowling Green Primary, Salterhebble J & I School, Copley Primary, Woodbank, Savile Park, Cross Lane, St Joseph's Halifax, Lee Mount, Burnley Road, Moorside Community Primary School, Beech Hill, Ling Bob, New Road Primary, Luddendenfoot Primary and Saint Chads Primary.
