Freddie is the General Manager of VCEP LTD – a Halifax-based property management business. The arts have always played a part in Freddie’s life – in 2016 and 2018 he co-organised charity events for the RNLI with one event having bafta screen writer and Piece Hall patron Sally Wainwright attend – and has helped raise £10,000 for the charity so far. Freddie has also helped other art and private organisations in Yorkshire with advising on property, fundraising and PR opportunities, and is keen to raise awareness for The Piece Hall as one of the North’s leading tourist destinations.

What makes you proud to be from Yorkshire?

What makes me proud to be from Yorkshire is the people and places. I love the diversity of the landscape. I am so proud of the sporting events that have been organised here, particularly Tour de Yorkshire at The Piece Hall. Yorkshire is a booming place for tourism. It is also becoming a film and TV hotspot, with recent examples including Antiques Roadshow at The Piece Hall, Gentleman Jack at Shibden Hall and Victoria at Harewood.

How does The Piece Hall benefit the local area?

The Piece Hall has definitely benefited the area by encouraging visitors to Calderdale. This has in turn boosted the whole region. The fantastic retail and food outlets together with the incredible events is a magnet for visitors.

How do you like to spend your time when visiting The Piece Hall?

I love to walk around The Piece Hall and soak up the atmosphere. I am a big fan of The Trading Rooms. It’s a great place to spend time whether it’s for coffee or the incredible food. All the shops are great - I especially like Joseph Chance which sells wonderful luxury male accessories and hair and body products. Their own aftershave is amazing. I also strongly recommend Elder or The Book Corner as places to visit in the The Piece Hall too.

Which events at The Piece Hall have you enjoyed?

Since the renovation of The Piece Hall it has become one of the North’s leading tourist destinations. I am so proud of how The Piece Hall has reinvented itself over the years to become such an incredible venue for world class artists and events.

What makes you proud to be an ambassador for The Piece Hall?

I am so proud to be a Piece Hall ambassador. It’s a place that has fantastic shops and restaurants and holds world class events. I never cease to be impressed by the rich history and heritage of the building. It is a place that has bought the community of Calderdale together whilst attracting visitors from all over the world.
