Legendary American rock band Pixies are to bring their unmistakable and era-defining sound to Live at The Piece Hall 2024.
The band – one of the most important rock acts of the last 40 years – will headline The Piece Hall, Halifax, on Wednesday 21 August.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 17 November via ticketmaster.co.uk
Pixies are rightly acclaimed as one of the most influential, pioneering bands of the late 1980’s alternative rock movement, having served as a major influence for artists such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, The Strokes, Weezer, and many more.
And today, a whole new generation of music fans has been discovering and embracing the band’s “loud-quiet-loud” signature sound.
Quirky, catchy melodies have always been Pixies’ calling card. Seven genre-defining studio albums, including the Gold-certified Surfer Rosa, and the iconic Platinum Doolittle, considered one of the all-time, quintessential alt/rock albums. Their UK Top 30 hits include Velouria, Planet of Sound and Debaser.
After disbanding in 1993, Pixies launched their reunion tour in 2004 and have played to sell-out crowds across the globe ever since. Their last four albums Indie Cindy (2014), Head Carrier (2016), Beneath the Eyrie (2019) and 2022’s brilliant Doggerel served to further cement their legendary status.
Pixies’ live shows are unadulterated magic, simultaneously electrifying and lo-fi with the band playing anything they want – in whatever order they want – from classics to new gems. No two shows are ever the same.
Pixies join Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Richard Ashcroft, Jess Glynne, McFly, Fatboy Slim, Loyle Carner and rock legends Status Quo among the Live at The Piece Hall 2024 headliners – with many more to be announced very soon.
