The Stranglers are bringing their 50th anniversary celebrations to The Piece Hall.

They will be joined by fellow punk pioneers Buzzcocks for a very special outdoor show at The Piece Hall’s iconic courtyard on Saturday 3 August.

With a rich musical history and a forward-thinking approach, The Stranglers remain an enduring force in the ever-evolving world of rock music and are undoubtedly one of Britain’s most iconic and influential bands.

Their unwavering dedication to their craft, their ability to connect with audiences worldwide, and their commitment to pushing musical boundaries continue to set them apart.

The group’s 19 Top 40 albums and 24 UK Top 40 singles include such hits as Peaches, No More Heroes and Walk On By, Always The Sun, Strange Little Girl and the mercurial Golden Brown, among many others.

In 2019, they released their 19th studio album, Dark Matters. Reaching Number 4 in the UK charts, this innovative album pushed the boundaries of their sound, incorporating elements of electronic and alternative rock showcasing the band’s continued creativity and fearless exploration of new musical territories.

Fellow punk pioneers Buzzcocks – whose classic hits include Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve), Orgasm Addict and What Do I Get? – remain a massive influence on the alt-rock and contemporary pop-punk scenes.

Following the death of frontman Pete Shelley, founding member Steve Diggle took over vocal duties and Buzzcocks continue to tour the world.

Their 2022 release Sonics In The Soul, the first Buzzcocks album in eight years, lived up to the band’s storied legacy. Classic Rock praised “the sound of a band rebooted and reinvigorated” while Uncut’s review concluded, “there’s easily enough here to steer the trusty old craft into new, uncharted waters, just as Shelley wanted.”

2024 will see Buzzcocks release a 45th Anniversary Edition of their classic compilation Singles Going Steady, and they are also working on a brand new studio album.

The Stranglers and Buzzcocks join Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Blondie, Richard Ashcroft, Tom Jones, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Sheryl Crow, Jess Glynne, Fatboy Slim, PJ Harvey, Underworld, Tom Odell, Pixies, IDLES, McFly, Loyle Carner and Status Quo among the headliners for Live at The Piece Hall 2024 – with more to be announced.
