A 2-week Live Event Production Skills Bootcamp is being run at The Piece Hall by the Academy of Live Technology to help people train for a career in one of the fastest growing industries in the UK.
In partnership with The Piece Hall, as part of The Piece Hall Adademy, the courses are fully funded by government and aimed at helping people across West Yorkshire step into the live events industry.
Each successful applicant will get a guaranteed job interview with some of the industry’s leading organisations.
The next course is set to start on 7th October 2024 and is open to anyone in West or North Yorkshire who is over 19 years old, not in full-time education, currently unemployed, looking for a career change or a recent graduate looking to get a start in the most exciting industry in the world.

The knowledge, skills and experience learnt on this course could lead to employment that takes people around the world.
Covered on the course:
- Sound Engineering: Learn the fundamentals of live sound production, including equipment setup, sound mixing and troubleshooting audio issues.
- Lighting Design and Operation: Gain hands-on experience with lighting equipment, programming light shows and understanding the technical aspects of lighting for events.
- Rigging and Stage Design: Understand the principles of safe rigging, stage construction and design to ensure the safety and effectiveness of live event setups.
- Event Safety and Management: Learn about safety protocols, risk assessments and effective management strategies to ensure smooth and secure event operations.
- Production Management: Develop skills in coordinating various aspects of event production, from planning and logistics to execution and post-event evaluation.
- Hands-On Practice: Engage in practical, hands-on learning experiences that simulate real-world event production scenarios, ensuring you are job-ready upon completion.
On completion learners will get an industry-recognised Event Safety Passport qualification by Safety Pass Alliance.
Learners will also have access to an additional 6 months of career support to find roles if needed.
